OVERVIEW
The understanding of coastal communities and borders in some previous studies is emphasized on two issues, namely the study on the development of coastal economy and the study on the security of the national/state borders. The basic problem of Indonesian areas categorized as coastal, border, and frontier concerns not only economics and limited access to education, health, and government, but also ideology, security, diplomacy, and socio-cultural identity. The Coastal and Border Studies cluster focuses on inter/multidisciplinary study on coastal society economically, politically, socially, and culturally.
